Thank the Lord, and goodbye!

As far as the rest, it just would be nice to see a veteran top line center on this team, I'm pretty confident most everywhere else.

Not discussed too much also is the importance in my opinion to keep Mathias happy and keep him signed here.

Not a compliance buy-out?

I agree if we resign mueller and bring in a top line center I won't be to worried going into next season. But if we go in next season with no top center we are in deep $hit...

YES!!!!!! bring in a top line center. Too bad there isn't one on the market. This is why Weiss really needs to be re signed. He plays very well with Flash and Steeger, he's finally going to have healthy wrists.

Down the middle this team won't be so bad. I wonder if Trocheck will be ready this season...

Weiss isn't worth 5mil per. So, if someone like Toronto wants to overpay him...seeya.

no one will overpay for Weiss. I bet Tallon lets him test the market and I doubt anyone gives him more than what Tallon offers. If he takes less to play somewhere else then Fucck Weiss, but I think he's loyal, always has been.

Valtteri Filppula better be on the radar if Weiss goes. Just saying. It makes all the sense in the world. Fin on the top line, then a rookie Fin learning and centering the 2nd line. Would make all the difference for a kid who hardly can speak english to have someone to go to and ask questions. This better have been in Tallon's plans when they drafted Barkov, if not they are fuccking stupid.

Look at all the buyouts. Teams continually overspend and sign players too long. Don't be surprised if he's a 5 mil guy. Not worth it, but I'm ready for it.

Hell, really, we still have dead wood signed here for too much.

Believe me no one will sign Weiss at 5 mill. Not after last year. 4 per seems like a more realistic number, though I hope the leafs have no interest in him at that price.

GOODBYE KUBA!! The young kids are coming up it's about time! Btw guys NHL Young Guns Daily on twitter (@YoungGunsDaily) has some cool scouting reports and projections of Panthers players including Grimaldi, Petrovic and Trocheck. Check it out at least someone pays attention to Florida's deep prospect pool!

Nice job to buy him out. If you're wondering why it was a regular buyout and not a compliance buyout, it's so that his buyout cost counts against the cap. Why do you ask? It's so we stay as close to the cap floor as possible. To me, this says that the owners are very cheap and we won't be spending much money on free agents. Maybe I'm wrong.. but then again, I doubt it.

As far as the defense goes, throw Robak or Petrovic in there. Matheson is a few years away, but he will be a powerhouse on our blue line.

Campbell/Kulikov
Gudbranson/Jovo (?)
Robak/Weaver

From what I've seen/heard, Jovo looks to be in pretty good shape. I hope he can hang in there. If he cannot, the right move would be for the team to place him on the LTIR. If he retires it would hurt us cap wise since his contract is an over 35 contract. Then again, ownership may want that.

In regards to Weiss; if he comes back, great. If he doesn't, then oh well. I would like him to come back. And maybe he will test free agency, find out he isn't going to be paid as much as he thinks, and signs with us again. Vinny got $4.5mil per. While he gets some buyout money, hopefully that sets the standard. If you guys want Grabovski, take a look at the comments he made today in regards to Randy Carlyle and Dave Nonis. No thank you. That's not the type of player I want here on the team.

Free agent needs: decent center (either top line or second line.. maybe Barkov plays #1), a veteran D if Jovo can't go, and a second line winger. These aren't ridiculous demands. The fact that we didn't tender Mueller, though, tells me our owners aren't going to be spending money. If this is the case, I hope they sell the team to someone who has some money. Obviously the financial pressure of running the team has surprised them. Maybe they'll prove us wrong.

Lastly... Shawn Matthias. I'm not sure how I feel about him. Let's be real, he had one good month last season. He cooled off dramatically. I feel like Tallon wants him to be our second line center.. and I do not agree with that. Partially because he's a better winger. we shall see. Also, Trocheck won't be ready at the start of the season. Needs AHL time as does Bjugstad.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that we need a veteran goaltender, lol. Rumors are we are interested in Tim Thomas. Markstrom needs a season or two of splitting starts with a proven winner like Thomas or Nabokov.

Reports are Weiss is asking for $6mil a season. To that I say: R.O.F.L.

I wonder if Ottawa will bring him back. They need defencemen, he could be had for a good price, and he's familiar with the team and the city. They can then move Methot to 2nd pairing and create a shut down tandem. Not a knock on Methot, he's top pairing caliber to me, but Ottawa lacked a shut down tandem last season.

Kuba is slower than a frozen turtle. That's his issue. The game is too fast for him.

Matthias is not a better winger, last season proves that
